Poem of the day - I thought I had you by Gideon Nwaikwu

I thought i had you

i thought i had you.
Winged enchanting creature ,
I sadly never knew. ,,
It was a facade picture. ,

Cold ash of a smoldered flame.,
You seemed now in my palms.,
Slipping slowly through my hands.
within  each tighter clasp.,

Finest face and finer smiles.,
Were golden dimples dwell..,
With skin of surple that truely spell.,
The rage of afric' sun!

I thought i had you. ,
You were my favorite woe.,,
Like flirty bird you flapped and flew.,
To greener tree i know!

Fair things with wings don't  last or stay.,
they fleet like flimsy dreams
And paste sad goodbyes on the sky. ,
And fade to lovelier realms

I thought i had you.,
When smiles alone spoke in  tongues of love. ,
Your giggles were so true. ,,
That the evening moon will crawl so low .,
To join our evening idlings by the hill.

a thousand questions ,sweet things ask.,
of why i should let  you  go,
i shake my  head in dying dream
why sweet things loved you soo.,

But i had you once!  Or.,
I thought i had you.,
And cherished you a thousand times before..,
The birth of  morning dew.

But i wish like i never wished afor .,
That matimas wind should sweep  apart.,
The things that binds us more. ,
And Quench  the facile sweetness of  my heart. ,

I thought i had you,
But now with a loosen grip.,
I never knew,  i never knew,
'Twas a forlorn trip!

You are the burning desert dust!
You are the shivering sea sand!
Hot tears of tattered trust!
Is shed upon the ground!

Because i thought i once  had you .,
But now adieu!  adieu!
